I’m a songwriter from the West Midlands who’s played in loads of bands in my time! I’ve been performing on my own for a while now and am hoping to release an album of songs written over the last 10 years or so. I’d describe the tracks I’m working on as a cross between synth-pop and alternative rock and I’ve tried to reflect this in a new live electronic setup.
The last band I was involved with was Fatbwoi 5 – a 3 piece indie act featuring the unique compositions of Fat Dave! We formed in summer 2009 with me on bass and played a number of gigs around the Midlands including the 2010 Glastonbudget festival.
Before that I was on keyboards and samples in a dance/funk band called Tsubo Soul who evolved into Blood Moon Sirens. They’ve since worked with Keri Arrindell who was a previous contestant in ITV’s X Factor competition, getting all the way to the Judges House stage.
I’ve played solo acoustic gigs since 2007, firstly under the name Fake Sheik and more recently as Omar Anthony. I’ve supported local acts like Tara Chinn and Lee Mitchell and played venues like the Hare and Hounds, The Flapper, The Victoria, Katie Fitzgerald’s and the Yardbird Jazz Club as well as making an appearance at Birmingham ArtsFest. As a songwriter I’ve reached the UK Songwriting contest semi-final stage twice.
